Community Programs
CSHDC provides counseling and referral assistance daily, assisting community residents them with various entitlement program applications, SCRIE, Section 8, NYCHA, HEAP, and apartment applications. In addition to CSHDC’s advocacy work, we also provide housing assistance; referrals to Legal Services, information on eviction notices, resolving essential service complaints, working through HPD’s Office of Code Enforcement, and the NYS Division of Housing, Community Renewal Programs for the youth services, childcare and worker/community owned enterprises.
CSHDC’s Food Pantry serves over 38,000 individuals and families on average in the last seven years. CSHDC also provides free tax preparation services for its constituents, and a Winter Warmth Program where outwear is provided during the winter season. CSHDC continuing its work in the community, will be re-launching new, innovative programs directed at preventing recidivism, at meeting the needs of our young fathers, providing after school educational and recreational needs of our young people, for our senior citizens, and to provide and employment resources.
